Altavista Fire Company
The Altavista Fire Company is a group of dedicated volunteers who help our community by providing fire suppression and emergency response services as well as fire education and prevention services. The AFC provides its services to Town residents and to residents on the southwestern end of Campbell County. The AFC is always looking for dedicated individuals to volunteer and become a member of the department. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a member of the fire department, contact Chief John Tucker at 610-1481.
Altavista EMS
The Altavista EMS is a group of dedicated volunteers who provide emergency medical services to the Altavista area as well as southwestern Campbell County and to Hurt and northern Pittsylvania County. The Altavista EMS is always looking for dedicated individuals to volunteer and become a member of the crew. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a member, contact EMS President Jason Bradner at 369-4716.  Visit their website by clicking here.
Altavista Police Dept.
The Altavista Police Department serves only the Town of Altavista although the department works closely with and provides mutual aid to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department, the Hurt Police Department, the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Department, and the Virginia State Police.
If you need to speak to the police department about a non-emergency (such as speaking to an officer about a case, inquiring about a police report, getting a copy of an accident report, etc.), call the Police Department administrative number-369-7425. Do not dial 9-1-1 for non-emergency calls. Should you need to speak to an officer about a case and they are not working at the time you call, simply leave a message and the officer will call you back at a mutually convenient time. The Administrative Offices are open between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
The Altavista Police Department is a proud member of the Central Virginia Crime Stoppers. Crimes Stoppers helps fight crime by encouraging individuals with knowledge of a crime to report this information anonymously. Persons calling in information or crimes may be given a monetary reward. Crime Stoppers strongly emphasizes that all tips are confidential. Your identity will not be released. You may call in tips at 1-888-798-5900. Or, you may visit:  www.cvcrimestoppers.org.
